Currently I was using MS 2003 Server, openSuSE 11.2 and Ubuntu 10.04 on my PC. ACPI was no problem in MS 2003 Server and openSuSE. This because I can shut down normally and no system lockup. But it's different in Ubuntu 10.04. If the system boot using default kernel parameter, the system will lockup after 10 minute or less. To work around this problem I add "acpi=off" kernel parameter. The result is no system lockup, even after 2 days. Another side effect is after issuing shutdown, the system will halted and not automatically power off. Is there any difference ACPI implementation between openSuSE and Ubuntu? |
