how to redirect the output of serial console (e.g. /dev/ttyS0) to a buffer or file

Is it possible to pipe serial console output to a file or a buffer or some virtual or pseudo device (in /dev)? The Kernel command line has in startup at this point "console=null,115200". (Normally it has "console=ttyS0,115200" - my requirement is: if "console=null,115200", should the output go to some other place than ttyS0, e.g. a virtual or pseudo device or to a file/buffer)

Maybe somebody know if there is good solution available?

Jobs Control: bg keeps it going?

If I send a task to the background with ctrl+z, is it stopped?

If I type bg 1, will it keep going?

I'm just a little confused as to how background processes work. jobs and bg and fg don't have man pages.

If I have a jobs output that looks like this:

kevin@orangebox:~$ jobs
[1]-  Stopped                 htop
[2]+  Stopped                 top

What do the pluses and minuses mean?

Revive Dead Consoles after Suspend

Hello everyone. I'm using Slackware13.0 & I've encountered a rather perplexing situation. I was wondering if there where any fellow slackers or wizened gnu 'rus out there who could lend a hand.

While using the kde4 desktop environment, after using the suspend to ram feature, I cannot revive the other consoles? tty0-7, or the consoles you get when you ctrl+alt+fn". The only one I can revive is the one I last used; xwindows, or tty7.

If anyone could help point me in the right direction towards a resolution, I'd be most grateful!
