I was wrong and now (after the failed drive is back) I realized that I was wrong...

I have 4G memory and the partition was 4G also. I suspect that I did not run out of memory and needed the swap really. I was using a debian install CD and I do not recall that I asked for the partition to be cleared explicitly.

What are my chances of recovering the contents of this partition? Any tool you can recommend?

(The tags are not the best I am not allowed to create new ones: ext3 swap data-recovery).

Thanks!
MatyasThu, 01 Jul 2010 17:28:20 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/966/ext3-part-mounted-as-swap-can-i-recoverfilesystemext4Convert NTFS partition to ext with datahttp://linuxexchange.org/questions/652/convert-ntfs-partition-to-ext-with-data
I currently have an NTFS partition on my hard disk, a relic from dual boot days with Windows, that contains a very large quantity of data ... call it my "Stuff" partition ;).

The problem is that I would prefer to have this partition formatted to ext4, but have no where to move the existing data to. Is there anyway that I can convert the drive to ext4 without losing all that data or would I need to transfer it all to a secondary storage device/partition and then just reformat?
GarethWed, 19 May 2010 10:32:48 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/652/convert-ntfs-partition-to-ext-with-datantfsext4format
