I am able to type documents in Hindi by a method shown here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL7icGNhIfI I installed ibus-m17n and ibus packages and have enabled support for Hindi language in gnome-language-selector.I have following input methods enabled in ibus preference window

Hindi inscript (m17n)
Hindi phonetic (m17n)
Hindi itrans (m17n)
Hindi remington (m17n)
* Hindi typewriter (m17n)

a snapshot for the same can be seen here https://picasaweb.google.com/107404068162388981296/UnknownAsianLanguage#5705518106929667058

Also you can see in this snapshot that these methods do come in drop down menu of ibus

https://picasaweb.google.com/107404068162388981296/UnknownAsianLanguage#5704771437325752466

I open libreoffice and press Ctrl+Space so that I can type in Hindi. I am able to type in Hindi.

When the input method is off as in this snapshot https://picasaweb.google.com/107404068162388981296/UnknownAsianLanguage#5705519585633896530

then I am able to type in Hindi with following kind of keyboard

/usr/share/m17n/hi-typewriter.mim

i.e. by pressing key "h" letter प gets typed.
Which is expected behavior.

Now comes the problem upon selecting the method phonetic as in this snapshot https://picasaweb.google.com/107404068162388981296/UnknownAsianLanguage#5704771437325752466

pressing key "h" letter again प gets typed.
Which is not expected. As per my understanding the keymap for phonetic input method in this case is

/usr/share/m17n/hi-phonetic.mim
and given that input method phonetic is already selected
(with phonetic selection) upon pressing key "h" letter "य" should get typed.

That means that selection of different input methods has no effect on typing. So is ibus not working properly or I missed some thing? But when I go to edit the keyboard shortcuts under the Gnome Terminal Edit menu, there is no entry for "Select All" (only Copy and Paste). I tried to look for a file under ~/.gnome and ~/.gnome2 where these settings are saved, but couldn't find anything. How do I get this reset back to normal?
lsidenMon, 27 Sep 2010 14:40:22 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/1369/cannot-change-gnome-terminal-keyboard-binding-for-select-allgnometerminal-emulatorHow to make Docky appear over other windowshttp://linuxexchange.org/questions/1245/how-to-make-docky-appear-over-other-windows
I have Docky in autohide mode. One item I have not been able to figure out is when the mount takes place, the mount points show up as "drives" on my desktop. I'm okay with that except for some of the mount points are not owned by my current login. In other words, I have one mount point that is owned by "root" but it appears on my desktop. I get permission denied when I try to access the drive but I'd prefer it not show up if I can't view it. I use GNOME so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Any thoughts?
AndyMon, 02 Aug 2010 16:15:44 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/1170/sshfs-drives-not-owned-by-current-login-show-up-on-desktop-gnomesshfsmountgnomeLogin problem in RHEL 6.0 Betahttp://linuxexchange.org/questions/1046/login-problem-in-rhel-60-beta
I have downloaded RHEL 6 beta from www.redhat.com site and installed it on my PC successfully. But ,with custom keyboard shortcut for Gnome Terminal in Gnome-2.30(Can set via menu System>Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts),it opens in root directory.I mean in "/" directory.
