Usually it took around 12-16 secs to bring up my login screen in windows, but after this install it takes me around 30 seconds to even bring the dual boot choice screen, which also has Linux as the default (1st option that gets selected on inactivity of 10 secs). Here is what I have set out to do.

bring up the list of OS to boot as soon as possible on a boot

make windows as the initial choice(default) in the boot menu.

Please help.
Arun SriniTue, 29 Jun 2010 04:45:55 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/933/startup-slow-after-installing-linux-and-a-dual-bootlucidgrubHow to fix grub after moving root partition?http://linuxexchange.org/questions/612/how-to-fix-grub-after-moving-root-partition
Hi,

Because I am using one of the new WD disks I am trying to aling my root partition with the real sectors, as described here:

http://community.wdc.com/t5/Desktop/Problem-with-WD-Advanced-Format-drive-in-LINUX-WD15EARS/m-p/10920#M631

So I copied all files to a temp location, deleted my partition (/dev/sda3), recreated it a few cylinders later (same name) and copied the files to the newly created partition. But now when I try to boot, I get my old grub menu but after selecting my kernel version it hangs... Any idea how I can fix it?
GrzenioSat, 15 May 2010 22:05:46 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/612/how-to-fix-grub-after-moving-root-partitiondebianlinuxgrubgrub uninstall from VISTAhttp://linuxexchange.org/questions/320/grub-uninstall-from-vista
How do you uninstall Grub from a dual system with Vista and Mepis linux (Toshiba Satellite)?
rpalmerThu, 06 May 2010 01:25:26 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/320/grub-uninstall-from-vistagrubAccess GRUB boot menu in Fedora?http://linuxexchange.org/questions/21/access-grub-boot-menu-in-fedora
I installed Fedora on a VM to test out something. Only, I managed to screw up and I forgot the root password, so I want to boot into single user mode to reset the root password. I can't seem to get to GRUB though. I heard that Fedora will hide the menu if you don't have a multi-boot setup or something

Is there a key I need to hold or something?
EmmanuelTue, 13 Apr 2010 17:34:32 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/21/access-grub-boot-menu-in-fedorafedoragrubbootmenu
