Netbook trackpad issue with Ubuntu

My netbook came in today and the first thing I did was get Ubuntu set up. I started out using a USB mouse so I didn't notice this issue right away. However, I've noticed that the trackpad has an issue. If you left click and attempt to drag an item the cursor gets crazy and doesn't do what you'd expect. I'm not sure if it's an issue specific to my netbook (HP Mini 210), Ubuntu for netbooks, or the combination of the two. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Which netbooks have hardware well supported by Ubuntu?

I want a basic machine to do some Internet browsing, email, Twitter/Facebook, and to learn C/Python on. I would prefer to keep it under $300 and therefore I'm looking at a netbook. Can anyone recommend a netbook that has hardware well supported by Ubuntu?

What happened to the gOS Cloud boot option on the Gygabyte M912x netbook?

Before buying the M912x netbook I had read some reviews about it having an option to quickly boot into a gOS Cloud environment (that is, similar to those famous SplahTop one) but after using it for a while I still haven't found how to access this option/feature or if it is present at all on the computer...

any hint?

Booting Asus EEE with Ubuntu

I've got this problem: i start the netbook (Asus EEE PC) with Ubuntu installed along with Windows XP and i want to boot from the USB Stick with some other LiveUSB distro. Unfortunately After i push the power button i see the grub menu immediately, so I can't change the boot device in the BIOS. What should i do with it?!
