Everything is going very smooth. Users are being logged in properly & their network drives (i-e; z: drives) are being shown. But either i login to Windows XP or Windows 7, user's profile does not get loaded. I get an error message, "You are logged in with a temporary profile". It would be so nice of you if anyone among you could guide me properly for how to resolve this issue.

A swift response would be highly appreciated.

Thanks/Regards

THE CODE IS AS UNDER:

[global] add group script = /usr/sbin/groupadd %g add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false -d /var/lib/nobody %u add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -m %u add user to group script = /usr/sbin/groupmod -G %g %u cups options = raw delete user script = /usr/sbin/userdel -r %u

dns proxy = no domain logons = yes domain master = yes hosts allow = x.x. idmap gid = 15000-25000 idmap uid = 15000-25000 log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log logon drive = z: logon home = \\%L\%U logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U logon script = logon.bat max log size = 50 netbios name = abc os level = 65 passdb backend = tdbsam passwd chat = *New*Unix*Password* %n\n *ReType*new*Unix*password* %n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully* passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u preferred master = yes printcap name = cups printing = cups security = user server string = abc Samba Server socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 time server = yes unix password sync = no workgroup = abc

[homes] comment = Home Directories valid users = %U browseable = no read only = no

valid users = %s

[netlogon] comment = Network Logon Services path = /var/lib/samba/netlogon browseable = no guest ok = yes admin users = root

[profiles] comment = Roaming Profiles path = /home/samba/profiles browseable = no read only = no writable = yes

[printers] comment = All Printers path = /var/spool/samba browseable = no printable = yes create mask = 0600 guest ok = yes

[print$] comment = Printer Drivers Share path = /var/lib/samba/drivers write list = root

[public] comment = Public Stuff path = /home/samba/public read only = no public = yes create mask = 0777 directory mask = 0777

[WingLvlShare] comment = Wing Level Sharing path = /home/samba/wing-level read only = no writable = yes public = no create mask = 0770 directory mask = 0770
Yawar_AzizMon, 13 Apr 2015 03:06:42 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/3521/samba-pdc-roaming-profiles-issuesambasecure automatic connection to MS-Windows file share (cifs)http://linuxexchange.org/questions/2793/secure-automatic-connection-to-ms-windows-file-share-cifs
I can mount a windows file share with
sudo mount -t cifs -o credentials=~/Files/server-mount/credentials //sbs2008/local ~/Files/server-mount/
. Right now I'm experiencing strange problems accessing the server via smb.

Issue 1: After upgrading CentOS from 5.4 to 5.5, I'm encountering errors on the samba server when editing files on the home directory from my Ubuntu machine. The home directory is mounted via fstab. The file will still open and close but only after a long delay. The strange thing is that these errors occur when editing on the home share but not on the other shares.

Error log on samba server:
May 24 16:39:03 mango smbd[15325]: [2010/05/24 16:39:03, 0] smbd/trans2.c:unix_filetype(1011)
May 24 16:39:24 mango smbd[15325]: unix_filetype: unknown filetype 448unix_filetype: unknown filetype 448unix_filetype: unknown filetype 448unix_filetype: unknown filetype 448192.168.1.100 (192.168.1.100) closed connection to service rickyw

smb.conf configuation on server:
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
path = /home/%u/documents
veto files = /.cmd/.com/.exe/.msi/.pif/.sys/autorun.inf/
delete veto files = yes
browseable = no
writable = yes

fstab entry on Ubuntu PC:
//mango/rickyw /media/mango-rickyw cifs auto,credentials=/home/rickyw/.smbpasswd 0 0

Issue 2: When I mount shares via nautilus, I am not able to open openoffice.org files. Instead, the files are opened with file roller showing an empty list. I am able to open the files if they are located on local drives or shares mounted via fstab.

Running Fedora 13 from VirtualBox in Ubuntu, there were no issues or errors at all.
