Can't get 1920x1080 rez on xubuntu 14.04 LTS

Hi, I just got a new computer and the screen I bought is brand new, however I am unable to get 1080p The only rez I can get is 4:3... Not a single 16:9 is avaible. I also use HDMI cable, and this is what I get when I type xrandr BTW:

FFMPEG How do I take a a screenshot from my desktop?

Hi, I want to take a screenshot of my desktop using FFMPEG, however I have no clue of how to set up a command like this and every time I search on google I only get how to extract a frame from a video... I ONLY want to take a single screenshot from my desktop using FFMPEG, so what is the command for that? Also, I am using ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

I am using a laptop and I've connected my monitor to it to "extend" my screen . Effectively my screen is now twice as wide. I want to take a screenshot of the second screen alone. Hitting print screen takes a vertically compressed horizontally elongated screenshot. as does the gnome screenshot capture tool . I tried to use the capture an area feature but that just warps the image so bad that it becomes useless. Can anyone suggest a good solution ?

I'm sorry if the question is n00b. I'm very new to Linux.

How can I detach process from a terminal I don't have access to?

I have a server process running in a gnome-terminal at home. I am at work, and I want to detach the process from that terminal and move it to screen without restarting it. Also, I can't use VNC.

Is there a way to do this?

Is there any keyboard shortcut to exit a terminal in screen

I use xterm with screen for my day to day needs. SO often I open several terminals in screen (using Ctrl+c). Later I have to close each of them my typing

$ exit

I was wondering is there any key binding in screen which will save me from the trouble of typing exit, that I just press that combination and terminal will close (only terminal not whole screen session).

I tried kill (Ctrl+K) but that kills the terminal which is very much different from exit (correct me if I am wrong).

So what would you suggest? Thanks for your time.s

How do I calibrate the touch screen in Moblin/Meego?

I am the happy user of a M912x netbook but unfortunately after a default installation of Moblin (a while ago) I was unable to fully utilise the touch interface due to the fact that the edges of the screen were not properly calibrated and therefore not accessible (and therefore things like the menu weren't "touchable").

How do I calibrate the screen in Linux/Moblin/Meego?

I am now waiting for the touch-enabled version of Meego which should be out in autumn... but any hint and tip in the meantime would be useful.

Compiz + Jolicloud

I have installed Compiz in jolicloud and I am getting artifacts. Has anyone else had this problem? I understand it is not installed by default possibly because of this reason in UNR/Jolicloud.
