What is the best free open source streaming server out there for the Linux OS?

Hi all. I have a basic question i am getting a lot of spin on. Looking at this output from top it would seem obvious that this server is overloaded seeing how it has 0 cpu load and 95% memory usage. My admin told me its fine because it has quite a bit of cache.

I can understand that the cache can be freed easily if needed but the basic poll I am trying to take is. Is this server ok or not and how best to reply to the "it has cache" answer if not.

lighttpd php and sqlite problem

Hi. When I try to write data to an sqlite file via lighttpd and php I get the error:

"Unable to open database file"

When I write the data directly using

$ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php5 sqlite-test.php

it works fine.

Also, php works with lighttpd when not writing to sqlite.

I've done some research and put the line

extension=sqlite.so

into php.ini, but still no joy.

How do I view a website in my desktop browser from a web app running in server in a VM on my desktop?

I am running Ubuntu on my workstation, and headless Ubuntu Server in VirtualBox on this same workstation.

I'd like to write a web app and deploy it on Ubuntu Server in the VM, then load it in a web browser on my workstation.

Is this possible, and if so how? Thanks!

Hi,

When I got mail about this site I thought is was software for using Outlook with Dovecot or alike. Anyway. Has anyone seen an open source project for that? Support for Mail, Contact, Calendar that is gratis. Also mobile sync would be great. :-)

Where to find Mezzo Desktop .deb files

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezzo_(desktop_environment) The distro, Symphony OS, is closed, the websites down. The amazing part about mezzo desktop was that it was a localhost server based html/php/etc desktop. UNR is heading that way, but symphony os was there years ago. I would love to be able to try it out, modify it, redistribute an updated version with the authors permission. Does anyone have a copy of the .deb files for it? I can not find it anywhere. All google searches through pages link back to the down website.
