Replace ubuntu with puppy

Hi, I have an emachines desktop computer. Windows xp became corrupted and lost a file so I couldn't boot windows. I installed ubuntu via usb stick to replace xp. Ubuntu loads, and will work, but really slow, slow, slow. I think the emachines desktop has sufficient ram and memory to run ubuntu, but it is too slow to be of use. I would like to replace ubuntu with puppy linux, but I can't get puppy installed. I tried using a usb stick since the cd/dvd drive doesn't work. Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, John

USB Soundcard with stereo input & output

I'm looking for a USB sound card, that meets the following criteria:

Has decent Linux driver compat
Has a stereo line-in and stereo line-out (most cards have a mono line-in for mics)
Is small (usb thumb drive size preferably)
Doesn't alter or process the sound (e.g. THX enhancements)

Right now, the only devices I've found are:

Ubuntu Studio Install from USB

Okay ,,, my problem is that,,,, i have downloaded an image of UBUNTU STUDIO 10.4...... nd i want to install it on my desktop which has a good config......

but the problem is that it doesnt have a dvd/cd drive...... so i have to install it somehow via the usb ...... which i have no idea whatsoever.......

it would be really helpful if you cud tell me a step by step process of how to do it.....and if possible give an easy way of doing it.... thanks.....
