I am trying to install Spore using http://linuxoutlaws.com/spore . It says to "Grab the latest Wine source (1.1.4, at the time of writing)" and then to apply a patch. If I am going to apply this patch, which version of Wine source should I "grab"? 1.1.4? 1.2? 1.3.4?
JoelFanMon, 04 Oct 2010 01:59:57 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/1373/which-version-of-wine-to-use-with-spore-patchwineubuntugameWine not working in Ubuntuhttp://linuxexchange.org/questions/1325/wine-not-working-in-ubuntu
Hi,

I have always preferred Linux over Windows, but gave myself the chance to really get into it this past week. Normally, I ran Windows XP in VMware to use Windows apps necessary for class. I don't have classes anymore, so I really gave Windows the royal boot. It has been sent off to that big blackhole in the sky. Anyway, I do have to use Internet Explorer to test browser compatibility for web sites I make, especially since IE usually craps on my code here and there where other browsers do not. I have never had to use Wine in the past, but I am discovering it just doesn't seem to work in Ubuntu. I know it is just something I need more information about. Any help getting it going would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Doug 2Tue, 31 Aug 2010 11:05:59 -0400http://linuxexchange.org/questions/1325/wine-not-working-in-ubuntuwineubuntuCan't run NFS Most Wanted on Winehttp://linuxexchange.org/questions/1237/cant-run-nfs-most-wanted-on-wine
I run Debian lenny amd64, video card ATI x1250 on Catalyst 9.2.

Kernel: 2.6.26 Wine version : 1.1.42

When i try to launch NFS Most Wanted v.1.3 I get error:

$ wine "/home/media/nfs_be/speed.exe" fixme:imm:ImmDisableIME (0): stub fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32f81c,0x00000000), stub! fixme:d3d:debug_d3dformat Unrecognized 909198916 (as fourcc: DF16) WINED3DFORMAT! fixme:d3d:getFormatDescEntry Can't find format unrecognized(909198916) in the format lookup table wine: Call from 0x7eddcdd3 to unimplemented function d3dx9_36.dll.D3DXCreateEffectFromResourceA, aborting err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code 80000100 flags 1 addr 0x7eddcdd3

Any ideas?
