I am wondering how linux does recognize a previously used WLAN? Is this done using the BSSID of the access point, using its name (SSID), using, both or maybe something different? Thanks for any hint :-) |
I've looked around a bit on my system, and came to the conclusion, that this depends on the network manager you use. If you use wicd, for example, the wireless information (e.g. ESSID, BSSID) is saved at /etc/wicd/wireless-settings.conf. The information wicd saves there depends on how you configured the connection. Thus, I think that all network managers will have different ways to recognize a previously used WLAN. |
