Hi there , i used to have installed on my pc backtrack 5 R2 + ubuntu 11.10 when i installed windows 8 i lost grub

using ext2explore and other browsing tools , i can see all linux partitions , with files in there. using super grub disk , i am trying to reinstall grub , but it says , file not found Ass seen here Any ideas ?

Is the excact message i get

Unfortunately The windows MBR in all of windows version , XP or 7 overwrite the grub in first hdd sector. you must fix and repair your grub , just use a live cd and then grub-install or grub2-install in /dev/sdx

You can use EasyBCD http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/ to boot Linux from Windows

I've had very good results using "Boot-Repair": http://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair/home/Home/
