When I log onto our Linux server (Redhat 16) using xterm and run the gnome or xfce-4 desktops the keys no longer are entered in correctly - (e.g. when pressing the "d" key - "s" is displayed). And that is for the whole keyboard! The keys are mapped correctly for KDE desktop.

There is no problem running the gnome desktop on my other (Solaris) machines using the same account (I use NIS and export the user accounts to all machines - sort of a simple cluster) so I don't think it could be anything on the user's account.
