Hello, In French (my mother language), there is a software called Antidote which is really good for grammar checking. What is even better, is that it works on Linux (last version even on 64bit). I'm looking for an equivalent in English. I found WhiteSmoke but it's only for Windows and OsX. Is there an equivalent for Linux ? Thank you |

Okay here's a few possibilities to check out :) First, there's Queequeg, a grammer checker for non-english speaking people. Remember, as with anything that tries to reduce 'style' to a quantifiable object, YMMV ;) http://sourceforge.net/projects/queequeg/ And next is, of course, OOo, which already has a grammatical thingy built in, but also has an additional plug-in: http://www.languagetool.org/ LanguageTool can be used with or without OOo. AbiWord has a grammer module too. WhiteSmoke, at eighty bucks, is supposed to be totally awesome Readability Report is supposed to be pretty good too, as an extension to OOo. And there's GrammerSlammer too. For online resources, there's Daily Grammer and Grammer Monster. I hope that helps! Kindest regards, Bradley Thank you I'll check this out. I read that languagetool and the abiword module are not verry efficient. Have you tried it ? Whitesmoke works on Linux ? http://www.whitesmoke.com/faq.html says only win and osx... I prefer not be dependent on the internet connexion. So OOo extension I guess

I am Fatin Izati Ahmad Badri and taking for TESL course with suprise. I am not applying neither TESL nor UPSI itself. What can I do? I am here. I am from Johore Matriculation College and was taking Biology course. As a Hayat student, of course my intention ,ambition and my goal is to be someone that is in medical or biology field. It is quite frustrating and make me down every time when I think about that. I felt alone because I had no confident and determination enough to be here. Many people said that I have to push myself to take it as my fate. As now, a few week I have been in UPSI, I was really work hard to change my perception and mind to set a new goal for this course. I must take it as a challenge for thrive to success. In college, I do active by taking part and join any program held by our college. I was involving myself with Rakan Penggerak Ad-din (RPA), Technical Support Team Club, Al-Falah member and Exco Insaniah. I am hoping that this programs will develop a good points and reasons why should I become an English teacher. I really make up my mind to have an excellent result and success to whatever program that I have join it. |

there exist a plugin I think but I read it's not so good
