I plan to use the OSPF software that comes together with the OSPF Complete Implementation book by John T. Moy. I had written to RED HAT JAPAN to enquire on the possibilty of me buy the exact OS (Red Hat 5.2) that had been used to develop the ospfd simulator. Red Hat wrote me back saying that they can only offer and support RHEL(Red Hat Enterprise Linux ) versions:
I write to ask for advise as for me to be able to create almost the equivalent environment as that was used to develop the ospfd program. Which Red Hat OS (and equivalent packages as listed below) would you recommend for me to buy from Red Hat? The packages that are recommended in the OSPF Complete Implementation Book are: (1)gcc : version 2.7.2.3 (2)egcs-c++: that is g++version 1.0.3a (3)glibc: version 2.0.7 (4)glibc-devel: version 2.0.7 (5)libstdc++-devel: version 2.8.0 (6)make: version 3.76.1 (7)Tcl: version 8.0.3 (8)emacs (9)rcs (10)gdb (11)ElectricFence (12)Tk: version 8.0.3 |
I have Red Hat 7.1 on 2 CDs, but I don't think that is what you want. Have you tried asking at a local LUG or checked on eBay? I guarantee that some collector somewhere has the Red Hat 5.1 you're looking for, as we geeks collect stuff like that. I wish I could be of more help (you are welcome to the 7.1 if you want it) Ron |
