How do I install this printer on Linux Mint. I've downloaded the recommended driver (ip1500). This is the file: bjfilter-pixmaip1500-2.50-2.i386.rpm. Everything set up okay using add printer in Mint. But when I did a test page, nothing happened except a stall at 29 percent.

I used CUPS and clicked on Admin Tab, provided needed username and password, then clicked on add a printer. Following the lead of a message on this forum, I found that the linux driver for canon ip1500 also works for the newer Canon PIXMA MP130 printer. The link which explains the ip1500 driver install is:

Forget Canon printers. Unlike HP, Canon has done nothing to aid the Linux user. All trails suggesting drivers to use lead nowhere. Got an HP, and now dancing.Check HP's website. It leads to hplipopensource.com where you'll find the drivers and steps to peaceful printing.
