Debian has a big software repository, so you may want to have a look on their "Games" category. http://packages.debian.org/unstable/games/ If you ask for personal recommendations about "good games", it depends on the genres you like and who you ask. If you want racing in 3D environment, you may like TORCS and TuxRacer. XMoto is a 2D obstacle race with a huge user-submitted level repository. If you want good puzzle collection, you should try not only games coming with KDE and Gnome, but also SGT Puzzles. Among Real-Time Strategies, there is quite original Globulation2. |

Not sure this is the kind of game you had in mind, but Nethack is great! You can even play it over SSH to your home machine ;-) Really nice. It helps me to learn to type without looking the keyboard!

I like PySolFC - not exactly a gamer's game, but a very cross-platform nice suite of Solitaire games. Others of my old favourites include Frozen Bubble, Hex-a-Hop and SDL Vexed. I've recently started playing many of the online JavaScript puzzle games at http://brainbashers.com/ and elsewhere, and they work fine in Linux. |

Hi, Not really Linux-only but still my top fav : Runescape. Runs anywhere anytime... Playable for free, if you enroll as member (not required to play though) there's tons of extra's to play with. Have fun! Thor |
